Discover Mindfulness Coaching
I’m Jake Smolarek, a dedicated mindfulness coach here in London. My goal is to help you achieve a profound sense of well-being and unlock your full potential within a balanced, fulfilling life. Through personalised mindfulness practices, we’ll work together to cultivate a mindset that promotes clarity, focus, and inner peace.
Ready for a statement that shouldn’t surprise you?
Life is tough. We never have enough time in the day to get where we want to go, yet we often find ourselves wishing we could slow down and rest. To steal a quote from Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings, “I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.”
But what if there was a way to slow down and maximise your productive output while maintaining a fast pace? It’s not hustle-culture, fake-it-till-you-make-it mindset. It’s the opposite: Mindfulness.
Mindful living offers a pathway back to equilibrium in our busy lives— helping you to slow down, take stock of what matters, and find a better way to live lives of meaning. And as a mindfulness coach, I’ve got the tips, strategies, and techniques to help you get there.
Wait… is this some new age, holistic approach to laziness?
If you’re sceptical about mindfulness coaching, you’re not alone. I’ve been in the mindfulness coaching practice for a while now, and I’ve heard nearly every excuse and misconception out there. Let me clear a few things up:
Here’s a foundational truth: Mindfulness isn’t about “emptying your mind” or escaping reality. And while your posture can help, being mindful doesn’t have to mean sitting cross-legged for hours, chanting a bunch of mantras, or becoming so relaxed that you’re lazy.
In fact, mindfulness is the opposite. It’s about getting intentional to become more aware, focused, and present in everything you do.
It’s about facing reality head-on with clarity and purpose. It’s about training your mind to be sharper, more resilient, and more effective in a world that demands peak productivity and performance.
But why find a mindfulness coach? Mindfulness coaching is for go-getters, for professionals who want to excel, for anyone who wants to live life to the fullest. Mindfulness principles go beyond just positive psychology – they help us touch base with a much more holistic, fruitful part of our lives.
So, if you’re thinking this is just another fad or a way to check out of life, think again. Mindfulness coaching is about checking in – with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
It’s about living more fully, not less.

How Can Mindfulness Coaching Change Your Life?

Mindfulness is about more than just relaxation (although that’s certainly a benefit). It’s a framework for developing a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationship with the world. And there’s a reason why I’m passionate about teaching mindfulness to my clients – it works.
When we practice mindfulness, we enter into a space where we remove the distractions that are influencing every minute of our lives. We get rid of the noise and allow space for self discovery and encourage a deep understanding of our own life.
Here are just a few of the benefits of mindfulness you can expect to see if you commit to what could be a truly transformational experience:
- You’ll reduce your stress and anxiety: Learn techniques to manage difficult emotions and find a sense of calm in the midst of chaos. These are the first dominos that can lead to better sleep, a better working memory, and greater self awareness.
- You’ll increase your focus and mental acuity: Reducing stress will overflow into your personal and professional lives. Mindfulness sharpens your attention, making you more present and efficient in your work and personal life.
- You’ll enhance your personal self-awareness: Develop a richer understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and patterns of reactivity—laying a foundation for positive change.
- You’ll improve your relationships: Bring greater empathy and compassion to your interactions with others. You’ll feel what it’s like to be fully engaged with real life and see a different perspective as you move throughout your world.
These are just a few of the benefits that my coaching clients experience, and when they master some of the basic mindfulness methods, the benefits spill over abundantly into nearly every other area of life. It’s the best way to maximise your days and live more fully engaged.
What Mindfulness Coaching Is – and What It Isn’t
During your mindfulness journey, it’s important to have a clear understanding of what mindfulness coaching entails. This is where a lot of online gurus and those looking to make a quick buck on those in real need have confused so many.
Mindfulness Coaching Is…
- A collaborative partnership focused on developing your mindfulness practice
- A structured approach to cultivating awareness, presence, and emotional balance
- A safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior
- A process of learning practical techniques to apply mindfulness in daily life
- An opportunity to deepen your self-understanding and personal growth
- A way to enhance your resilience and ability to navigate life’s challenges
- A method for improving focus, productivity, and overall well-being
Mindfulness Coaching Isn’t…
- A substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment
- A quick fix or magical solution to all of life’s problems
- A way to eliminate all stress or negative emotions from your life
- A religious practice or attempt to change your beliefs
- A means of escaping reality or avoiding difficult situations
- A one-size-fits-all approach to personal development
- A passive experience where change happens without effort
In our coaching relationship, my role is to guide you through evidence-based mindfulness practices that come alongside your personal goals and aspirations. That’s why we do this together – building out a plan that will incorporate your new mindfulness methods into your daily life in London.

At the core of our work together are fundamental mindfulness techniques that form the foundation of a strong practice.
- Guided meditations to help you cultivate present-moment awareness
- Breath awareness exercises to anchor you in the here and now
- Body scan practices to develop a deeper connection with your physical self
- Mindful movement techniques, such as gentle yoga or tai chi, to unite body and mind
Tackling Challenging Emotions
Life in London can be stressful, and learning to navigate difficult emotions is a key skill that all successful people must master.
- Recognising and naming emotions as they arise
- Developing strategies to manage stress and anxiety in real-time
- Exploring techniques to work with anger and frustration productively

- Learning to express yourself with clarity, authenticity, and kindness
- Developing non-violent communication techniques
- Using mindfulness to navigate difficult conversations and conflicts
Cultivating Self-compassion
Are you your own harshest critic? Many avoid meditation and mindfulness out of fear that in the quiet, they will have to face their inner demons. But it’s there that we train ourselves to grow.
- Recognise and counter negative self-talk
- Develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with yourself
- Practice self-compassion exercises to boost your emotional wellbeing
- Use mindfulness to nurture self-acceptance and personal growth
Mindfulness in Everyday Life
Mindfulness is a way of approaching life, not just something you do when you sit down and draw inward. We’ll look at how an integrative mindfulness perspective flows into our lives, like breathing.
- Integrate mindfulness into your morning and evening routines
- Practice mindful eating to improve your relationship with food
- Develop mindful work habits to boost productivity and job satisfaction
- Use mindfulness to enhance your leisure activities and relationships
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
A key area of healing comes in the form of clinical Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). This proven method has shown huge benefits to those who work through the process, not only helping to reduce stress but also:
- Develop a greater understanding of the mind-body connection
- Learn techniques to reduce the physical and psychological effects of stress, anxiety, and pain
- Enhance your ability to relax and find calm in challenging situations

How Do You Become A Mindfulness Coach?
As someone who’s been on this path I get asked all the time about the journey to becoming a mindfulness coach. It’s a great career that requires dedication, continuous learning and a deep personal commitment to mindfulness practices.
Develop a Deep Personal Practice
Before you start looking into the average mindfulness coach salary or how can a mindfulness coach earn money on mindfulness courses you need to make this practice part of your daily life.
The foundation of good mindfulness coaching is a strong personal practice. This means developing a daily meditation habit, attending mindfulness retreats for intensive practice and integrating mindfulness principles into your daily life.
Get Specialised Training and Certification
Formal education in mindfulness coaching usually involves completing a recognised mindfulness teacher training program such as MBSR or MBCT, getting certified by a reputable mindfulness organisation and studying the theory and practice of mindfulness and its applications.
This training gives you the knowledge and skills to coach others effectively and has you grounded in both the science and practice of mindfulness. You’ll often work with a coach supervisor and in a group program training to learn how mindfulness and meditation can get your client to their desired outcome.
Teach and Coach
Beyond understanding mindfulness you need to be good at teaching it to others. Both the coach and the client grow as they work through the mindful coaching process, from basic mental clarity to deep self discovery that only comes when we focus and bring awareness into our own lives.
This means practicing guiding meditations and mindfulness exercises, learning to communicate complex concepts in simple language, developing active listening and empathy skills and understanding how to tailor mindfulness practices to individual needs.
These skills will help you connect with and support your clients well and create a safe and supportive environment for them to grow.
Commit to Continuous Learning and Ethical Practice
The journey of a mindfulness coach is one of continuous growth. This means staying up to date with the latest research in mindfulness and related fields, having regular supervision or mentorship with experienced coaches, following the ethical guidelines in your coaching practice and deepening your own mindfulness practice.
This commitment means you’ll be an effective, ethical and inspiring coach always evolving and refining your approach to serve your clients well.
Being a mindfulness coach is more than just learning. It’s about living it and developing the skills to guide others on their path to more awareness and well-being.
